Angel Food Cake

Ingredients

  • 12 large egg whites — about 1 1/2 cups
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup flour, sifted

Method

  1. Wash hands with soap and water.
  2. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat the egg whites until they are foamy.
  4. Add the cream of tartar and beat until stiff, but not dry.
  5. Gradually beat in the sugar Add the vanilla and salt and then gently fold in the flour.
  6. Pour the mix into an angel food tubular 10-inch pan and bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until the top is nicely browned.
