Apple Crumble Recipe
8 servings · 20 min prep · 40 min cook
Ingredients
- 6 cups diced apples (peeled and diced 1-inch pieces)
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon (or apple pie spice)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ⅓ cup granulated sugar
- ⅓ cup brown sugar (packed)
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- ⅛ teaspoon ground ginger (optional)
- ½ cup unsalted butter (cold, cut into cubes)
Method
- Heat the oven to 375°F.
- Mix flour, white sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, and ginger (if using) in a bowl. Cut in the cold butter with a pastry cutter until it forms pea-sized crumbs, about 3-4 minutes. Chill while prepping the apples.
- Toss the diced apples with sugar, flour, and cinnamon in a 2-quart baking dish.
- Scatter the chilled crumble topping evenly over the apples. Bake uncovered for 35-40 minutes until golden and the apples are tender.
- Serve warm or at room temperature, with vanilla ice cream if you like.
