Carne Asada

Ingredients

  • 1 pound flank steak
  • ½ cup orange juice
  • ¼ cup fresh lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 jalapeno (halved and seeded)
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 8 corn tortillas
  • pico de gallo
  • guacamole

Method

  1. Blend orange juice, lime juice, vegetable oil, soy sauce, jalapeno, garlic, and cumin until smooth.
  2. Place the flank steak in a dish or bag, pour marinade over it, coat well, and refrigerate at least 4 hours or overnight.
  3. Preheat the grill to medium-high and let the steak come to room temperature.
  4. Grill the steak 7-9 minutes on one side, flip, and cook another 5-7 minutes to desired doneness.
  5. Rest the steak on a cutting board for 10 minutes.
  6. While the steak rests, grill the tortillas briefly until softened and lightly browned, then wrap in foil to keep warm.
  7. Slice the rested steak against the grain into small pieces.
  8. Fill the warm tortillas with steak, pico de gallo, and guacamole to serve.
