Better Than Takeout Teriyaki Chicken

Ingredients

  • 2lbs chicken thighs
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup mirin
  • 1/4 cup sake
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp pepper flakes
  • sesame seeds (optional)
  • Salt
  • bp
  • cornstarch

Method

  1. Season the chicken thighs with salt, black pepper, and a light dusting of cornstarch.
  2. Combine the soy sauce, mirin, sake, brown sugar, garlic powder, ground ginger, and pepper flakes in a bowl to make the teriyaki sauce.
  3. Sear the chicken thighs in a hot pan for 5-7 minutes per side until cooked through and golden.
  4. Pour the sauce into the pan and simmer until it thickens and coats the chicken.
  5. Sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.
  6. Serve with white rice and steamed vegetables.
