Better Than Takeout Teriyaki Chicken

Ingredients
- 2lbs chicken thighs
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup mirin
- 1/4 cup sake
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp ground ginger
- 1/2 tsp pepper flakes
- sesame seeds (optional)
- Salt

- cornstarch
Method
- Season the chicken thighs with salt, black pepper, and a light dusting of cornstarch.
- Combine the soy sauce, mirin, sake, brown sugar, garlic powder, ground ginger, and pepper flakes in a bowl to make the teriyaki sauce.
- Sear the chicken thighs in a hot pan for 5-7 minutes per side until cooked through and golden.
- Pour the sauce into the pan and simmer until it thickens and coats the chicken.
- Sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.
- Serve with white rice and steamed vegetables.
