Mac & Cheese Stuffed Breadsticks

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups warm water
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 2 packets instant yeast
  • 3 cups bread flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/4 lb pasta
  • 2 ounces cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 ounces american cheese
  • 1 ounce cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 cup salted butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon parsley

Method

  1. Mix warm water, honey, yeast, bread flour, salt, garlic powder, and oil in a bowl until a dough forms.
  2. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth, then cover and let rest for 20 minutes.
  3. Cook the pasta according to package directions, then drain and set aside.
  4. In a pan over medium heat, melt the butter and whisk in the flour to form a paste.
  5. Gradually whisk in the milk and heavy cream until smooth.
  6. Lower the heat and simmer for about 3 minutes until thickened.
  7. Stir in the cheeses, salt, pepper, and paprika until melted and smooth.
  8. Remove from heat, add the cooked pasta, and toss to coat evenly in the cheese sauce.
  9. Roll the dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick and cut into 5 equal strips.
  10. Spoon the mac and cheese filling onto one half of each strip, fold the dough over, and press the edges to seal.
  11. Arrange the filled breadsticks in a greased baking dish.
  12. Mix melted butter with garlic powder and parsley, then brush generously over the breadsticks.
  13. Bake at 375°F for about 20 minutes, until golden brown.
