Cinnamon Rolls with Apple Pie Filling

Ingredients

  • 1 (12.4 oz) can refrigerated cinnamon rolls with icing
  • 1 (21 oz) can apple pie filling, chopped into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • Icing packet from cinnamon rolls
  • 2 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • Caramel sauce (optional topping)
  • Chopped pecans (optional topping)
  • Chopped walnuts (optional topping)
  • Thin apple slices (garnish)
  • Ground cinnamon (garnish)
  • Powdered sugar (garnish)
  • Fresh mint leaves (garnish)

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9-inch baking dish.
  2. Cut each cinnamon roll into quarters. Spread half the pieces in the dish and top with half the apple pie filling, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. Layer the remaining cinnamon roll pieces over the top, then add the rest of the apple filling. Drizzle melted butter over everything.
  4. Bake 30-35 minutes until golden and cooked through.
  5. While baking, whisk the icing packet with cream cheese, milk, and vanilla until smooth to make the glaze.
  6. Let the baked rolls cool about 5 minutes, then drizzle the cream cheese glaze over the top.
  7. Add pecans, walnuts, or caramel sauce if desired, then serve warm.
  8. Store leftovers in the fridge up to 4 days and reheat before serving.
