The Bosnian Pot

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 pounds beef stew meat
  • 1 head cabbage
  • 2 1/2 large carrots — 2 or 3
  • 3 1/2 large fresh tomatoes
  • 3 1/2 large potatoes
  • 2 medium onions
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 2 green peppers
  • 1/2 tablespoon vegetable oil — or cooking oil of your choice
  • 1/2 tablespoon vinegar
  • salt and pepper — to taste, optional

Method

  1. Wash hands with soap and water.
  2. Chop all the vegetables.
  3. Combine with the meat and seasonings in a large pot.
  4. Add enough water to completely cover the mixture and add the oil and vinegar.
  5. Cook, covered, for two to three hours on low heat until everything is well done.
