The Pantry Butler

How to save recipes

Everything you can save to The Pantry Butler, and how.

Olive can pull a clean, organized recipe out of almost anything — a cooking Reel, a TikTok, a YouTube video, a blog post, a screenshot, or a PDF. Here's how each one works.

Save from Instagram, TikTok & YouTube

The fastest way. While you're watching something you want to cook, send it straight to Pantry Butler without leaving the app.

From Instagram

  1. Open the Reel or post.
  2. Tap the paper-airplane (Share) icon.
  3. Tap Share to… — this opens your phone's system share sheet.
  4. Tap Pantry Butler.

From TikTok

  1. Tap Share (the arrow on the right).
  2. Swipe the app row and tap More if you don't see it.
  3. Tap Pantry Butler.

From YouTube, Safari, or anywhere else

  1. Tap Share.
  2. Tap Pantry Butler.

Olive reads the post and pulls out the ingredients and steps automatically. Give it a few seconds — it's reading the whole recipe so you don't have to.

Every recipe keeps its source. Whatever you save stays credited to the creator who made it, with a link back to the original post.

Don't see Pantry Butler when you share?

This is the most common hiccup, and it takes about ten seconds to fix. Your phone hides newly installed apps from the share sheet until you switch them on once.

On iPhone or iPad

  1. Share anything (a Reel, a link, a photo) to open the share sheet.
  2. Scroll the row of app icons all the way to the right.
  3. Tap More (the ••• circle).
  4. Find Pantry Butler and turn its toggle on.
  5. Tap Edit and drag Pantry Butler to the front so it's always first.
  6. Tap Done.

You only ever have to do this once.

On Android

  1. Tap Share on any post or link.
  2. Pantry Butler appears in the app list — tap it.
  3. Tap the pin icon on it to keep it near the top for next time.

Save by pasting a link

The share sheet is quicker, but pasting always works — and it's handy on a laptop or when a link arrives by text or email.

  1. Copy the link (in Instagram: •••Copy link).
  2. Open Pantry Butler.
  3. Tap Add recipe and paste the link.

Works with Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, and most recipe blogs.

Save from a photo, screenshot, or PDF

Great for cookbook pages, a handwritten card, or a recipe someone texted you as a picture.

  1. Open Pantry Butler and tap Add recipe.
  2. Choose Photo or File.
  3. Pick the image, screenshot, PDF, or document.

Olive reads the text and formats it into a proper recipe with ingredients and steps.

Fill your pantry by scanning a receipt

The fastest way to get your kitchen into the app, so Olive can start telling you what you can cook right now.

  1. Open the Pantry tab.
  2. Tap Scan receipt.
  3. Photograph your grocery receipt.
  4. Review what it found and tap Add.

Items are sorted into the right categories automatically. You can also add things by voice or by typing.

Common questions

Why is Pantry Butler missing from my share sheet?

Your phone hides new apps from the share sheet until you enable them once. See the steps above — it takes about ten seconds.

Saving a recipe is taking a while. Is that normal?

A few seconds is normal — Olive is reading the whole post and pulling out every ingredient and step. If it's consistently slow or fails, check your connection and try again, then email us if it keeps happening.

It saved the recipe but missed an ingredient.

Tap the recipe and edit it directly — you can fix ingredients, steps, and servings any time. Some posts bury details in the caption or comments, so an occasional miss is normal.

Can I save from a private or followers-only account?

If a post isn't publicly viewable, we can't read it. Copy the recipe text and paste it in instead — that works.

Does the original creator still get credit?

Always. Every saved recipe keeps its source and links back to the original post.

Can my family see the recipes I save?

Yes, on a shared plan. Your family pantry and family cookbook are shared, so everyone sees the same ingredients and saved recipes.
